I don’t care if the calendar has not officially told us it’s fall. Once Labor Day has come and gone, it will always feel like a fresh start for fall. School always started after Labor Day for me growing up and there’s just a bit of nostalgia that goes along with that.
The Unofficial Start To Fall
The season feels like a total reset too. The weather has started to change a bit, and while I’m sure it’s a false fall, it still instantly puts you into the fall mood. I looked up New York Giants tickets hoping to go to a game this season, and officially bought a pumpkin spice creamer for my coffee. I even started to put away my sandals and swap for the boots and suede sneakers.
I’m already sad that tomatoes and fresh corn at the farmer’s market are about to be a thing of the past. And trying to get my fix of the summer fruits before they’re gone for good. I’ve been loving going to the Union Square farmer’s market and will have to lean into fall produce as it shifts.
It’s little things like that which truly make the season feel new too. The month feels like a fresh start, a slow start with the holiday honestly. But then before you know it you’re half way through the month and then we’re thinking about the holidays. It feels like it goes oh so fast. But I don’t want to fall to fly by either, I want to enjoy fall especially while I’m here in New York City too.
My NYC Fall Bucket List
I have a few things I really want to do this fall in New York City. From walking through Central Park when all the leaves have changed colors, to maybe even taking a day trip to the Catskills or Hudson. I accomplished a good chunk of my summer NYC bucket list. So I’m hoping to make a new list for fall and make my way through it.
Walk Through Central Park
While walking through Central Park is an easy thing to do, I really want to see it all at it’s peek foliage. I feel like I completely missed it last year as I moved early November and things were really starting to just turn brown. I would love to stroll through the park, maybe even have a picnic too, to take it all in.
A Day Trip To Hudson
I have a long list of places to visit for a good day trip. So really just any day trip to somewhere that has apple cider, pumpkins and lots of fall foliage and charm is on the to-do list.
Embrace Fall Produce At Union Square Farmer’s Market
I’ve been leaning into all of the summer produce and as we head into the new season, I want to do the same with fall. From root vegetables to pears and apples of course.
Go To A New York Giants Game
It’s been on my bucket list for YEARS to finally go to a New York Giants game. I grew up with Sunday football on the TV every weekend. I would love to see a game at the Giants stadium surrounded by all the G-Men fans.
Today’s Look
Today’s outfit made me feel like I was ready to head back to school. Plaid mini skirt and loafers really does the trick. As someone who attended private school as a kid, this really was the vibe. And yes, the sock with the loafer is the move for fall. I love the sock and loafer trend together and here are some more tips on how to wear those socks.
When I saw this mixed media mini skirt I just had to have it. The shirt hem peeping out at the bottom was the perfect detail that sold me. Paired with a simple tee and blazer it’s really such a great fall combination. Styling a mini skirt for fall and winter is one of my absolute favorite trends. I know this one will be a favorite throughout the next few months.
